Just got the final essay back for last semester, and got 24/30!

This will means I tip over into a Distinction for the semester which is awesome, as I am sick of just scraping through. Although, I can't always control that with working and having a life as well on top of studying.

The next semester has already started, but giving it a wide berth for a few days as I'm suffering a little bit of burn out after pushing myself hard all weekend to get my research essay done and dusted. At least I am beginning to see making the decision to keep going with the degree was the right one, even if I want to throw things and call it quits on occasion ;)

We've been without water for most of the day/evening :(

Woke up this morning to extremely low pressure and about 10am, it was turned off entirely. Water main burst or something up the road... It was out until after 11pm!!!

Thankfully our house is ancient, so we have an outhouse and the olds collect rainwater, so flushing wasn't an issue so long as the tank was filled.

Sick as a dog

It's been a crazy couple of months for me, what with WYD, Liz being here from Canada, going to Melbourne and uni/work/family/everything else.

I managed to get quite sick from some dodgy looking chicken at WYD:

At the time, we could not quite identify what it was, the best we could come up was chicken. What do you think? That left me with a recurring bacterial infection for the next month or so, yay!

Also as part of the fun of WYD, I contracted severe gastro at Randwick on the Saturday. The toilet facilities were without water on and off for the better part of 8 hrs. I was already ick from the stupid infection, and the next nearest toilets were a bit of a hike, so when you have to go... everyone did. I know, TMI! Anyhow, I gave up and went to the St John's ambulance tent just before midnight, they took one look at me and sent me up to the medical unit where I spent the next 3 hrs. Lots of gastrolite, injections and tests later, they decided I had to go home. So I eventually ended up home just before 5am in the morning and promptly passed out. Sadly I missed the final mass, we had prime position too right next to the altar/stage area.

On top of that, being outside in extremely cold weather with an already battered immune system, I contracted a cold that same week which quickly blew up into flu a week or so later = awesome. So I went to Melbourne rather miserable, even collapsed at Crown Casino and poor Adam had to get me to our hotel and put up with me sweating and shivering all night long.

ANDDDD... I broke my toe the week before as well at home, so it was extra win!

Freezing my butt off!

Damn it's freezing in Sydney right now, 11C according to the SMH weather thingy.

Played baseball today in my thin cotton undershirt, and uniform... lots of fun, it was soooo cold! The wind and misty rain didn't help either, nor does having a rather bad cold at the moment: watery eyes, runny and blocked nose, nasty chesty cough and sore throat. I'm sure I'll get sicker now for staying outside for close to 4 hrs.

Going to some concert tonight with Mum, but the support act is a favourite singer of mine, so all good. Dad was meant to go but didn't want to, so rather than Mum go alone, I'm going now. Rather stay home wrapped up and warm :(

Yay for long weekends!

I seriously doubt I accomplished much over the weekend, beyond catching up on sleep and spending time with the bf...

Friday: Got home from work at about 5:30pm, promptly into bed after not sleeping for the preceding 4 nights. Probably partially due to my crappy mattress and partially due to pushing myself the previous 3 weekends with uni work, as well as my ability to just plain old not sleep!

Saturday: I honestly can't remember much of this day, other than I did some washing and stuff! Oh, Mum and I ordered a new mattress finally, gets delivered today yay!

Sunday: Invaded Sharpie's, got to meet his new gf Candice who is entirely lovely and great fun, as well as spend some time with Adam. Arrived in time for breakfast, although it was noon lol. So I got a yummy lunch of bacon and eggs done on the BBQ with toast and juice! The day was spent lazing about watching Battlestar Galactica, Dead Like Me and Eddie Izzard. Adam cooked chili for dinner, which we enjoyed with tortilla's, sour cream, corn chips and cheese. Both we girls were a bit sick that night, don't think it was the chili though. Mine was almost certainly related to the dairy overload and being crappy all week long.

Monday: slept in, think it was almost 10 before any of us showed signs of movement. Then it was just a coffee brekkie for me, didn't want to risk eating after the previous evenings performance. We pissfarted around on the computers for a little bit, then dropped Adam's car over at Mortdale to get repaired after his accident a few weeks ago (idiot drove up the back of him when he was sitting at lights!). Then dodging police doing breath tests, dropped him home and went to Hurstville for my usual massage and a spot of shopping, then home to collapse.

So didn't get much done over the weekend, but think I needed it after the hectic nature of the past 3-4 weekends with uni deadlines. Didn't get much sleep last night, but I'll live ;)

Random Update

Been a while since I did an update, life is just so bloody busy!

Extremely busy juggling uni and work. Started with my new responsibilities about 6 weeks ago, roaring along at high speed sucking up new stuff and working hard. Got a distinction for last semester with the studies, 1 month to go in my current semester so busy working on assignments and such.

One of my Canadian cousins arrives in less than a week to live with us for a bit. Initially with my aunt near us, then with my brother over at Mosman. Roughly 8 years since I saw her in Canada, about 18 years since most of the family saw her when she was a bub and they moved back to Canada. So that will be a bit of excitement for a bit! Taking some time off here and there, both for spending time with her and as study leave to give my uni work a little bit more love.

Had a birthday in amongst everything else a few weeks back. Had a lovely relaxed lunch with some friends and family as well as a family dinner at home. Lots of wine, good conversation and great company, perfect birthday. Not to mention Adam entirely spoiling me with a new camera!

Had a lovely pub lunch today with my team here at work, new guy started from our UK office. Coolish outside today but sunny, lovely walking around the harbour. Love working down here, just wish it wasn't so far from everything!

Gearing up for World Youth Day in a month or so's time. Quite a few going from our Deanery area, which is fantastic. Not too enamoured of the happy clappy youth festivals planned but looking forward to the rest. Most of the roads around work will be closed that week too, which will make getting in and out fun for all... APEC again? I'm probably taking the week off or just maybe taking some half days and pleading work to not go to some things. I want to go away later in the year, rather save the leave for that instead... although I have something like 5 weeks owing!
